Rosacea
Rosacea is a surprisingly common and often misdiagnosed skin condition. Individuals that live with rosacea can have a negative impact their personal and professional life. Despite a multitude of research around rosacea, it remains idiopathic and subsequently, incurable. However, there are treatments that can reduce the effects of the condition by up to 80% dormancy.
Rosacea is a common disorder that mainly affects skin on the face. It causes redness on the nose, chin, cheeks, and forehead. … People with rosacea can also develop red solid bumps and pus-filled pimples.
There is a number of different types of Rosacea:
- Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea – Redness and flushing of the skin with either a singular or multiple cluster of blood vessels (telangiectasia).
- Papulopustular Rosacea- Facial erythema and swelling. Can also have pus-filled bumps or pustules.
- Phymatous Rosacea- A thickened skin including a bulbous nasal also known as rhinophyma.
Treatment Options
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment has proven to be very successful. The IPL emits polychromatic light through specific filters to target chromophores at varying depths within the dermis, this then coagulates the blood vessel and is destroyed.
A course between 3 and 6 would be recommended and homecare products would be advisable to get the most out of your treatments and to manage your rosacea long term. We will carry out a test patch at least 24 hours prior to treatment.
We can also offer a skin resurfacing treatment for mild rosacea and Metronidazole gel for topical use prescribed by our in house Dr.
